The 27th Annual Meeting of The Japanese Society for Helicobacter Research

Welcom Message

At this time, I have hereby been officially appointed as President for the 27th Annual Meeting of The Japanese Society for Helicobacter Research. I am deeply honored as well as being slightly nervous to be heading such a prestigious academic meeting. This meeting will be held from Friday, September 24th to Saturday 25th, 2021 at the Tokyo Medical University Hospital and Clinical Auditorium. In addition, a certification test for physicians, an educational lecture meeting, and an open-public lecture meeting will be held on the following Sunday, September 26th. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the event is scheduled to be held in hybrid at not only the venue but over the internet as well.

The theme for this event is “Helicobacter & Microbiota.” Regarding Helicobacter, we will be commenting on the current state of; 1) the international symposium that was themed under the differences between Europe and Asia (including Japan) regarding the surveillance of gastric cancer, 2) the infection diagnosis mainly on the diagnostic endoscopy of pylori-negative gastric cancer (after sterilization and inhibitory), 3) the GERD after sterilization, 4) the FD, 5) the gastric cancer screening, 6) the antibody testing, and 7) fundamental research that is essential to the progress of Helicobacter study. Regarding Microbiota, we will have a “Meet the Experts” to comment on the relation between colon cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and Microbiota.

The spread of COVID-19 is gradually changing the state of academic meetings and the way they are being held, not only in Japan but throughout the world. Although conventional means have been withheld this time for the meeting to be held in hybrid with online participation, we would like the information shared at this academic meeting to be featured throughout the world via the use of the internet. We would appreciate the support and cooperation of the directors and delegates, as well as the members of this society in this endeavor.
We sincerely hope for your participation.
